The March of
Progress Begins Anew: Spring 2009 Since development of the new Auto Parts City began, most of the updates have highlighted improvements made below ground level. Finally, with the first signs of spring, construction on the compactor and fluid evacuation building are well underway. ![]() With scaffolding and block in place, construction of the walls of the compactor building can begin. ![]() In what is certain to become know as the most fortified fluid evacuation building in the history of auto recycling, a comprehensive rebar grid is erected prior to concrete forms being set in place. ![]() As anyone who has ever worked construction can tell you, there are those moments during the working day that are more physically demanding than others. Carrying concrete forms qualifies as one of the more tiring parts of the day. ![]() In a variation on the old adage "measure twice, cut once," Jay Brosten (right) requests another look at the blueprints before the forms are set and the concrete walls are poured. ![]() Overhead View From the top of the orange guideline (approximate) to the bottom, a distance of 460 feet was laterally bored. Once in place, the underground conduit will extend new electrical lines to the buildings currently under construction. No pavement demolition or trenching was required. |
